    Commencement of the building of the Guide Hall at Ettalong. The club donated £50 to start the project as well as donated thousands of hours of man power used in the promotion and construction of the Hall.
  • Despite the time and effort required by the Guide Hall project, the club was able to assist other worthy projects including the Crippled Children and the ambulance.
  • Including the club members and their ladies, there was a total attendance of 130 at the change-over function on July 7, 1953.

1953-54
President: ALF FORD

The bulk of this year was focused on fundraising for the construction of the Ettalong Guides Hall. While the major fundraiser, a fete held on December 5 1953, exceeded its target of £600, numerous tradesmen donated money material and labour and gave valuable advice, while firms and individuals donated much in the way of materials .

The building was officially opened by Mrs. E. V. Newman, a member of the Girl Guide State Executive, accompanied by Mrs. G Procter (Divisional Commissioner) on June 19, 1954,

It is a matter of pride to this club that the hall was opened completely free of debt at a total cost of £1,464.

Despite so much of the club’s time being taken up by the Guide Hall project, other projects were not neglected:

  • £43 was donated to the Woy Woy Unit of the Crippled Children Association;
  • two rooms were covered with lino at the C.W.A. Baby Health Centre,
  • a donation of £25 was made to Rotary Foundation funds and Christmas gifts to Woy Woy patients in Gosford District Hospital.
